
The words “Mardi Gras” for “Fat Tuesday” French. Mardi Gras is the last day before Lent begiining. The Mardi Gras season is essentially that one last party before the start of prayer and penance.
In the Catholic tradition, Lent is a time of sacrifice. However, Carnival is a time of indulgence. Growing up in New Orleans, we took the time, good food, great parties and enjoy even better drinks. I can not tell you how to cook gumbo, or take a city-wide party for a million people, but I can tell you how to fill your glass.
If you Mardi Gras like New Orleans enjoy native language, try one of these classic Mardi Gras drinks:
* Hurricane
Ingredients:
The ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and then into a cocktail glass filled with ice, strain.
* Mint Julep
Ingredients:
4 oz Bourbon12-14 Mint Leaves1 teaspoon simple syrup
Muddle the mint and simple syrup on the ground a short glass. Then fill the glass with ice and bourbon and stir until frosty
* Sex on the Beach
Ingredients:
1 ounces ounces Vodka1 Peach Schnapps3 ounces ounces grapefruit Juice3 cranberry juice Maraschino Cherry
Mix all ingredients (except cherry) into a cocktail glass filled with ice. Stir and garnish with the cherry
* Screaming Orgasm
ingredients.
3 / 4 oz Kahlua3 / 4 oz Irish Cream liqueur3 / 4 oz Amaretto3 / 4 ounces vodka
The ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and then into a cocktail glass filled with ice, strain.
* Sazerac
2 oz Bourbon1 Sugar Cube1 / 4 oz Pernod or Herbsaint1 / 2 oz Lemon JuiceDash of Peychaud bitter lemon twist
Put the sugar cube in the bottom of a short glass and saturate it with the dark. Then add ice and other ingredients (except lemon twist). Stir well. Then turn the lemon peel over the drink and drop it into the glass.
